Virginia M. “Ginny” Nicholson, formerly of Hornell and Belmont

HORNELL/BELMONT-Virginia M. “Ginny” Nicholson, 93, of Webster, formerly of Hornell and Belmont, passed away suddenly Friday morning (Nov. 20, 2015) at Rochester General Hospital.

 

Born in Hornell on Oct. 17, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. and Anna Walsh Prior. On June 22, 1939 she was married in Hornell to Paul Nicholson, who predeceased her on Jan. 8, 1971 after 32 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her four sisters, Eleanor Campbell, Mary Cartella, Margeurite Nicholson and May Prior; also her three brothers, William, Francis and Grover Prior.

 

A graduate of Hornell High School, Ginny and her husband Paul resided in Belmont for many years where they owned and operated the Belmont Cleaners. While residing in Belmont they were active members of the Belmont Presbyterian Church.

 

Since Paul’s death Ginny has resided in Rochester, Williamson for 14 years and Ontario, N.Y. and most recently in Webster.

 

She enjoyed baking and crocheting, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

 

Her loving family includes her two daughters, Beverley (Salvatore “Sam”) Anselmo of Webster, with whom she resided and Jean (Thomas) Trainor of Eatonton, Ga.; her five grandchildren, Jamie Anselmo, Jeffrey (Paula) Anselmo, Peter (Tina) Anselmo, Kris (Beverly) Trainor and Chad (Vanessa) Trainor; her eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also her nieces and nephews.

 

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Virginia M. “Ginny” Nicholson.

 

There will be an hour of calling from noon-1 p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with the Pastor Lenny Fuller of the United Methodist Church in Hornell officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
