Almond, NY – Alfred Almond board of education passed the 2015-2016 fiscal school year budget at last night’s monthly meeting for $12,829,353 with approximately $4.5 million coming from foundation aid.

Superintendent Rich Calkins was very happy to announce that for the first time in 5 years the board will not have to make cuts to make ends meet. He said they were actually able to add one staff position.

The tax levy going up for vote will be 1.1% increase which is well under the allotted 1.6% tax cap limit.

On the ballot on May 19, will be three propositions:

#1 – The budget proposition of $12,829,353 which entails a 1.1% tax increase

#2 – Proposition to expend $100,000 from the Capitol Reserve Fund to finance boiler repairs and safety improvements

#3 Library proposition
