Allegany County Man Accused of Trying To Seduce Minors

ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY – State Police have charged a Peter Shoughrue, 43, Wellsville, with 1st degree disemminating indecent materials to minors, 1st degree attempted use of a child in a sexual performance, attempting luring of a child, 3rd degree attempted criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child. Shoughrue is accused of trying to lure someone under the age of 16 by using child pornography images to entice the child. Shoughrue was remanded to Steuben County jail, $20,000 bail.

Alfred-Almond Central School Superintendent Rich Calkins says that Shoughgrue was a substitute teacher at Alfred-Almond. Calkins says that Alfred-Almond takes the health and safety of students very seriously, and that Shoughgrue’s employment has been terminated.

Superintendent Calkins says he has no reason to believe that any students were victimized, and added that the school will cooperate fully if contacted by law enforcement officials.

The Alfred-Almond Central School Superintendent also noted that counselors will be available if needed.
