Hornell, NY – A major cancer fundraiser will be taking place this summer. Casey Kellogg of the Sweeny Agency announced this morning that planning has been in the works for months for an event on August 16th, 2016 to raise money for funding of cancer research and services to families of those stricken. The event called “Sweeny’s Swing for a Cure” will include a golf tournament at Twin Hickory, a morning 5k race, food, music, and a huge auction. The festivities will be hosted by John Carbone at the Main Place. This event is fully endorsed by the American Cancer Society.
The motivation for Kellogg to undertake this is project is the hard fought battle his mother Sonja Sweeny went through recently dealing with cancer. Mr. Kellogg wishes to honor her memory and her generous nature by helping others stricken with this dreadful disease. Their goal is to raise $20,000, and if the event is a success it may return yearly.
