ARKPORT, NY – The Arkport village board took up the discussion on repairing and resurfacing Northridge Drive. There was talk of milling and widening the road but according to Mayor Charlie Flanders, that could cost upwards of $250,000 which is much more than they want to spend at the moment. DPW head Bob Mauro suggested that the road is currently too low, and to be done right it needs to be widened and milled and finally resurfaced. It was finally agreed that after they decide what exactly they want done to the road, bids will be put out and they will go from there.
Also plans to replace the Meadowbrook Road Bridge by this summer have had a temporary delay. Of the four easements needed to be signed only two have been collected. An easement is a non-possessory right to use and/or enter onto the real property of another without possessing it. Flanders said he shouldn’t have any problem obtaining the final two; it’s just a matter of timing/communication.
And finally Village Clerk Jen Bush announced she will be out 6-8 weeks starting in May for surgery and a replacement clerk will be needed for that time period. Interested candidates can call Jen at (607)295-7346.
