November 19, 2015

ARKPORT, NY – Arkport School Superintendent Glenn Niles says there is a zero percent tax cap for the 2016-17 school year, last night, Niles discussed the budget parameters for the 2016 – 17 school year. Niles emphasized the fact that the maximum allowable tax cap will be zero percent instead of the usual two percent for the next fiscal year with probably zero percent increase (possibly less) in state aid. He says the school system will have to balance the budget with electricity and fuel, transportation costs with the purchase of the new buses, employee health insurance.

Niles hopes he could make this happen, with few if any cuts. The budget presentation will be on May 4, and the budget vote May 17, 2016.

In other Arkport school news, Arkport will be hosting a cheerleading team for the first time this winter. and the Arkport senior class decided on New York City for their senior trip. They plan on leaving early Friday morning on May 13, and coming home late Sunday, May 15.
