Arkport Teen In Jail, After Being Charged For Sending Emails To Sheriff About Threats

ARKPORT, NY – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports that Eric Carman, 16, is in Steuben County Jail, after being charged for allegedly sending two emails to the sheriff’s department, about possible violence at Arkport Central on Thursday. The school went into lock down mode on Friday morning, as soon as the reports came in to the sheriff’s office, the sheriff’s department contacted Arkport Central School. “I would like to thank all those involved in our effort, including our law enforcement partners who responded to this incident and provided assistance. Additionally, I would like to thank Superintendent Harper and his staff, for their professionalism and cooperation. Most importantly, I would like to express my appreciation to the parents and students of the Arkport Central School District. It was a very stressful and emotional situation, and they handled themselves with incredible poise and understanding.”

The charges against Carman are making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony. He is in Steuben County Jail, $10,000 bail.
