CANISTEO – Audrey B. Tilden, 81, of Fourth St., passed away Friday evening (Dec. 28, 2018) at Elderwood at Hornell.
Born in Syracuse on Oct. 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Thelma (Kibbler) Tilden. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two brothers, Eugene Tilden and Stanley Tilden.
A former resident of Lafayette, N.Y., Audrey was a graduate of Lafayette High School and continued her education at LeMoyne College in Syracuse. After she received her Registered Nurse certification she became employed at Massachusetts (Mass) General Hospital in Boston as a Trauma and Operating Room nurse. While residing in Boston she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Theology from Emmanuel College. Later in her life, she received her master’s degree in Theology from St. Bernard’s Institute in Rochester.
Eventually Audrey became a resident of Canisteo where she served as a Pastoral Associate from 1997 to 2007 at the former St. Joachim’s Church, St. Mary’s Church in Rexville and Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Hornell; she retired in 2008 and became a Social Ministry Director for the parish.
Her loving family includes her brother, Charles Tilden of Lafayette, N.Y.; as well as her extended family, the staff and parishioners of Our Lady of the Valley Parish.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her memory at 10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 11, 2018) at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Garden in Dewitt, N.Y.
