Barbara A. “Barbie” Geyer, of Hornell

HORNELL-Barbara A. “Barbie” Geyer, 79, of 111 Thacher St., Hornell died early Friday morning (January 12, 2017) at Elderwood of Hornell following a brief illness.

Born in Lockhaven, PA on August 24, 1938, she was the daughter of Harry & Olive (Swisher) Geyer.

Throughout the years, Barbie resided in several locations, including Pennsylvania & Ohio, and had lived in Hornell for over 10 years.

She enjoyed taking daily walks (long before it was fashionable), working on word puzzles and watching old movies on TV. She also was an animal lover who especially loved dogs & cats.

Barbie occasionally attended services at St. Ann’s Church. She will be remembered as a gentle & kind woman who served as caregiver for family members in their final days.

She was preceded in death by four siblings and also her niece.

Surviving are 1 brother, William (Shirley) Geyer of Pennsylvania; several nieces & nephews including James (Elizabeth McMindes) Burns with whom she resided.

At Barbara’s request there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Barbara’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd., Hornell, NY 14843.
