North Hornell-Betty L. Polasik, 83, of Cleveland Ave., passed away Tuesday (Nov. 7, 2017) at Olean General Hospital, after a short illness.
Born in Salamanca on July 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Lillian (Vesneske) Ambuske. On Nov. 24, 1956, she was married in Salamanca to Paul L. Polasik, who predeceased her on June 4, 2015, after 58 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Paulette Polasik in 1981 and her two brothers, Eugene and James Ambuske.
A former resident of Salamanca, Betty was a graduate of Salamanca High School and became a resident of Hornell in 1965 and has resided in the Village of North Hornell since 1971.
She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family.
Betty was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell.
Her loving family includes her twin sons, James and John Polasik both of Jacksonville, Fla., her sons, Eugene (Laurie) Polasik of Bainbridge, N.Y. and David Polasik of North Hornell; her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Julie and Amanda Polasik; as well as her sister, Denise Ambuske of Buffalo.

To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. A private funeral and committal service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
