Hornell, NY – Bruce L. Porter, 75, of 6265 Crosby Creek Road, passed away Friday (February 14, 2014) at his home.

Born in Hornell, November 11, 1938, the son of Kenneth and Verda Freeland Porter, he had resided in Hornell nearly all his life. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1956, and had been employed as Executive Vice President of Gibraltar Management in White Plains for many years before his retirement. Following retirement, he operated an Organic Dairy Farm on Crosby Creek Road. From an early age, Bruce played in several area bands, “Bruce Porter and the Belhops”, and later “Scorpio”.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy House Porter of Hornell, his children; David (Karen) Porter of Almond, Stephen Porter of Hornell, Gary (Lisa) Porter of Alfred Station, Bruce (Kelly) Porter Jr. of Nunda, Kevin Porter of Almond, Daniel Porter of Almond, Polly Porter-Ellis of Fulton, and James Porter of Almond. One sister, Kathleen Weinhauer of Scio, 2 brothers, George (Pat) Porter of Hornell and David (Janice) Porter of Stannards, several grand and great grand children as well as Three step grand children and one step great grandchild, nieces, nephews & cousins.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Monday from 6 PM until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM with Rev. Donald Maynard officiating.
