HORNELL, NY – Hornell Mayor John Buckley says the plans by the state to have all prisoners arraigned in Steuben County Jail, that plan has been put indefinitely on hold after pressure from State Senator Tom O’Mara and other officials. Buckley tells Wlea News that this is a result of a Hornell City Hall memorandum, objecting to the increased costs and workload that would be created.
The mayor says that it appears that Hornell taxpayers have avoided having to submit to the state’s plan. Buckley says that as a result, Hornell and Corning will likely be exempt from this new state mandate.
