Burdette Hulse, of Greenwood

GREENWOOD: Burdette Hulse, 76, of State Route 248 passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening (Jan.6, 2018) at his home.

Burdette was born January 26, 1941 in Rexville to the late Willard and Hope (Horton) Hulse. On July 1, 1961 in Rexville, he married the former Patsy Sherman who survives and resides in Greenwood.

Burdette was a life-long resident of Greenwood. He was a dairy farmer in partnership with his brothers, Leo and Howard Hulse, who owned and operated the former Hulse Brothers Dairy Farm. Upon retiring from his own farm in 1996 he continued his loved for farming by working with Dale Lamphier at the Lamphier Farm in Greenwood. He eventually went to work for his daughter Darleen at the Country Cross Roads Feed and Seed Store of Andover.

Burdette loved to work in his woodworking shop at home where he made many crafts and items that he shared with his family and many friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed the company of his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Patsy of Greenwood, Burdette is survived by his five children, Michael Hulse, Theresa (Terry) Billings, David (Michelle) Hulse, Darleen (Joe) Meehan and Lisa (Shawn) Mills all of Greenwood. 12 wonderful grandchildren, Sarah Post (Eric), Johnathan and Noah Hulse, Brett and Brielle Wallace, Aaron Billings (Lauren), Trevor Hulse, Mackenzie and Nathan Krisher, Brooklynn, Brayden and Brynn Mills. 4 great grandchildren, Hannah and Abby Billings and Lillian and Alexis Post.

Burdette is also survived by two brothers, Leo Hulse of Hornell, Howard (Patricia) Hulse of Greenwood, one sister Barbara (Calvin) Graves of Wellsville, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the H.P Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. A Mass and Christian burial will take place Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rexville. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover.
