Canisteo-Greenwood State Aid Update

January 12, 2016

CANISTEO, NY – The Canisteo Greenwood school board would like to get a head start on the 2016-17 budget but have to wait on numbers from Albany to see how much aid they will receive. School Superintendent Jeremy Palotti said they should here something from Albany by Wednesday. It was noted that the school district is 75% reliant on state aid. “Our major concern for next years budget will be healthcare increases,” said Palotti. “We are expecting a 20% increase in healthcare cost which is around $650,000 for the district.” On the plus side he said the district is pretty much debt free at this point with a positive cash flow.

Also, the school board said they will be filling vacancy notifications for a bus monitor and technology teacher.
