CANISTEO, NY – In the monthly Canisteo-Greenwood BOE meeting it was learned that the guidance office at the high school has been approved to be used as a College Level Examination Program or CLEP. This is an honor as only 11 schools in the state have this designation.

Also the schol board heard from head librarian Mrs. Feenaughty about the increasing popularity among students using e-books and ipads for English class readings. They are already up to about 1400 e-book checkouts for the year and they have approximately 400 e-books in stock. E-books cost the library anywhere from 99 cents to fifty five dollars to purchase and the library currently has a budget of around $4,000 to spend.

The board has approved the girls varsity basketball team permission to take an overnight trip to Cleveland Ohio November 28th-29th 2015. On the agenda will be watching a high school game during the day and then attending a professional game in the evening (Cleveland Cavaliers). The students are responsible for paying for their ticket to the game and lodging. The school will pick up the bill for transportation. About 10 girls plan on attending.

The board also confirmed they will be looking for replacements for a teachers aid position and a typist.
In other school news, the marking period ends this Friday so parents can expect to be getting their grades shortly after.
