Canisteo Village Mayor Bill Tucker and Village Board member Tim Harkenrider had a budget presentation last night.

Mayor Tucker noted that if the village went over the two percent state property tax cap, the state government would not give rebate checks to Canisteo taxpayers.

Officials say that last year it was $443,000 that Canisteo Village hall collected from taxpayers.

This year they’re looking to collect $447,000 with a tax levy of 1.68 percent.  In the Canisteo Village budget, one of the major increases will be water and sewer.

Officials say that the average Canisteo Village taxpayer will pay $62.00 a year more starting after the June 1st fiscal year.
