Carl A. Pickett, of Cameron

CAMERON-Carl A. Pickett, 90, of County Route 119 passed away peacefully Sunday (Feb. 1, 2015) at the Steuben Center in Bath following a brief illness.

 

Carl was born June 4, 1924, in Jasper, to Clarence and Arrena (Margeson) Pickett. On July 25, 1948 in Cameron Mills, he married the former Mary Loucks who survives and resides in Cameron. He was predeceased by a son Edward C. Pickett in June of 1998, grandson Michael Stuart in Dec. of 1988, and a granddaughter Kimberlee Davis in November of 2014.

 

Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country during WWII. He had worked for 44 years as a machinist at Ingersall Rand in Painted Post. He was a former member of the Cameron Vol. Fire Dept. and was one of the founding members. He was a life member of the Bath VFW and Campbell American Legion. Carl was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends.

 

In addition to his wife of 66 years Mary Pickett of Cameron, Carl is survived by three sons: Roland (Marilyn) Pickett of Hornell, David Pickett and Bruce Pickett both of Cameron, three daughters: Brenda Cromwell and Laurie (David) Quick all of Cameron and Lisa (Glen) Crane of FL. 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services with military honors will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 8:00 pm . Burial will be in Town Line Cemetery in Cameron Mills.
