Clara L. “Peg” Clark, of Arkport

Arkport-Clara L. “Peg” Clark, 94, of 5 Brush Street, Arkport, passed away Monday (December 15, 2014) at the Hornell Gardens.

 

Born in Hornell, April 9, 1920, the daughter of Conrad and Louise Knopf Hilsdorf, she had resided in Arkport nearly all her life. She was a graduate of the former Almond Union School, and a member of the Arkport United Methodist Church.

 

Peg enjoyed gardening, all plants and flowers, crafts and boating. She and her husband traveled several waterways in New York and Canada. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always placed the needs of others before her own. Her caring and giving ways will live on as an inspiration. Her favorite saying was “Be happy for this moment; this moment is your life”.

 

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Carl G. Clark in 1998, as well as her sisters, Mable Shuster, Celia Lons, and Ether Diehl , her brothers, infant Robert Hilsdorf, George Hilsdorf, Herman Hilsdorf and Charles Hilsdorf.

 

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Catherine) Clark of Arkport and Hamilia (Vincent) Vogt of Cohocton, her sister, Mary (Otis) Preston of Arkport, and her brother, Conrad (Eloise) Hilsdorf of Canisteo, 3 grandchildren, Suzanne (Todd) Kesel, Christine Vogt, Carl (Heather) Clark, and 4 great grandchildren, Dan Clark, Shawn Kesel, Kevan Kesel and Ryan Kesel, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 2 PM until 4 PM at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 4:00 PM with Rev. Pam Carey officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport.
