BATH, NY – The Steuben County Legislature voted yes this morning, on a vote to approve the presentation of a local law to possibly start an Independent Conflict Defenders Office.
The next vote on this will be the up or down vote, and will be held on October 26th, which is the next county lawmakers meeting. There will be a public hearing at that October meeting.
Officials say that if it’s approved, it will be an office of lawyers who will be similar to public defenders, representing clients who cannot afford an attorney themselves.
