Democrats Rally in Hornell

HORNELL, NY – The Steuben County Democratic Committee held a rally at their new headquarters in Hornell Saturday afternoon with former Hornell Mayor and Steuben County Democratic Chairman Shawn Hogan kicking off the event and introducing local candidates who oversee Hornell. He also gave a very passionate speech about the importance of voting in the upcoming election.

The first speaker was Tracy Mitrano, who is running for the 23rd Congressional District against Tom Reed. Mitrano is currently endorsed by many origanizations including by the Working Families Party. She is from Penn Yan NY, and plans on having a televised debate against Tom Reed in Corning Tuesday evening at 6 PM. The debate will be carried live by WETM TV.

Barbara A. Baer is a Democratic candidate seeking election to the New York State Assembly to represent District 133. Baer is running in the general election on November 6, after advancing from the primary on September 13th. Baer is also running as a Working Families Party and Women’s Equality Party candidate. Baer was previously a 2016 Democratic candidate for the same seat. She will be up against incumbent Joseph Errigo (Independent), and Marjorie Byrnes (R).

And the last speaker, Monroe County Court Judge Christopher Ciaccio, will be seeking a state Supreme Court judgeship this year. A Pittsford resident, Ciaccio had a private law practice in Rochester before his election to County Court. There are two judgeship positions opening this year in the Seventh Judicial District, which includes Monroe County along with seven other counties. State Supreme Court Justice Ann Marie Taddeo (R), is also seeking re-election along with County Court Judge Victoria Argento (R).
