CANISTEO, NY – Denise J. Roberts, 44, of Bennett St. passed away peacefully Friday (April 11, 2014) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a hard and courageous battle with cancer.

Denise was born September 25, 1969 in Bloomsburg, Pa. to Melvin and Joan (Taylor) Kishbaugh of Berwick, Pa. On June 11, 1994 in Berwick, Pa. she married Christopher S. Roberts who survives and resides in Canisteo.

Denise was a 1987 graduate of Berwick Senior High School and furthered her education at Mansfield University where she earned her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Music Education. She was a music teacher and instructor at Canisteo-Greenwood Central School for 20 years where she was very instrumental in the production of many musical programs. She was a member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church and was very involved with the music worship team and many youth choir programs. Denise’s other interests included scrap booking and cooking, she was also involved in scouting being a local den mother, cub master and “Pop Corn Kernel”. She also loved camping with family and friends and her love for both will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband Christopher “Chris” Roberts of Canisteo, Denise is survived by two sons: Kyle and Kameron Roberts both at home, her parents Melvin and Joan Kishbaugh of Berwick, Pa. a brother and sister-in-law Bradley and Danielle Kishbaugh, two nephews: Spencer and Taylor Kishbaugh and niece Gabrielle Kishbaugh all of Berwick, Pa., as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from1-4 PM Wednesday at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, Cty. Rte. 69 in Canisteo where a funeral service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 4 PM with Pastor Daniel Pickering officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.

Memorial contributions in Denise’s name may be made to the Canisteo-Greenwood Central School with a memo of the future Denise J. Roberts Scholarship Fund, 84 Greenwood St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823 or to the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church Worship and Sound, 6034 Cty. Rte. 69, Canisteo, N.Y. 14823.
