Eleanor Ann Rosell, of Hornell

HORNELL – Eleanor Ann Rosell, of Hornell, passed away Saturday (Dec. 22, 2018) to be with her Lord after her third and final challenge with cancer and after a stroke she survived a few years ago. She was surrounded by her family at home after having been set up with CareFirst (Hospice) the previous week.

Born April 6, 1937 in Watertown, N.Y. the youngest of five children to Cecilia and Sebatian Paluzzi, a first-generation Italian, Ellis Island family that settled into Watertown where her father worked on the railroad in the early 1920’s.

She was predeceased by her parents and all her older siblings who remained in Watertown their entire lives; sister, Olga Spazziani (Peo), brother, Atzio Paluzzi (Jean), sister, Angie Claflin and sister, Mary Misercola (Joe). She was also recently predeceased by her lifelong first Hornell friend, Anna Watt.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Parish where she was often seated in the rear of St. Ann’s Church.

She was briefly employed in her early Hornell days by the Credit Union in Hornell, later she was employed by the Hornell School District during her children’s schooling days as a teacher’s aide in a resource room where she worked closely with Marcia Reynolds. Her most valued employment was at home as a mother and railroad wife where she fulfilled the role of matriarch in the very true sense of the word.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of 58 years and her son, Tim Rosell (Cindi) of Hornell and their two children Nolan and Alexandra. Ellie is also survived by her daughter, Tina Rosell of Greenwood and her three children, Laken, Katie and Mitchell. She is also survived by an uncountable number of nieces and nephews of her siblings spread throughout the United States.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Eleanor A. Rosell.

Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 27, 2018) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2018) at St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish (27 Erie Ave.), Hornell, followed by private interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont for her family. A reception for friends and family will follow the Mass at the Main Place in Hornell.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to CareFirst (Hospice), 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, N.Y. 14870. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
