AMITY, NY – State Police report that there was an electrocution death, at 4800B Ingraham Road in the Town of Amity.
According to troopers, the investigation revealed that a backhoe had struck an overhead utility line, causing a utility pole to break and descend. The primary distribution line subsequently fell on 26 year old, Derek Roeske, who had been standing nearby, assisting the backhoe operator.
Amity ambulance responded to the scene and transported Roeske to Jones Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Troopers say that this is still and ongoing investigation.
