Freddie E. Bates Sr, of Hornell

HORNELL-Freddie E. Bates Sr, 64, of 57 Bennett Street, passed away Monday (Nov. 28, 2016) at the Vincent House in Wayland.

Born in Bath, June 27, 1952, he had been a resident of Hornell his entire life. He had been employed at the Birds Eye Plant in Avon, the Former Loblaw’s Store in Hornell, and R&C Taxi in Hornell. He was a former member of the North Hornell Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his mother, Bertha Bates and one sister, Evelyn Anderson.

Surviving are his wife; Shirley Kenyon Bates of Hornell, his daughter; Tammy (Troy) Lathrop of Hornell, his sons; Freddie (Jessica) Bates Jr. of Hornell, Timothy (Sherry Walker) Bates of Pennsylvania and Robert (Donna) Bates of Newburg, step son, Harold Loper III of Hornell, his grandchildren; Seth Lathrop, Emma Lathrop and Justin James Bates, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend Freddie’s memorial service on Thursday (Dec. 1, 2016) at 5 Pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
