GOP Partners with Hornell High School for Scholarship Award

January 9, 2017

HORNELL, NY – The Hornell GOP is teaming with Hornell Senior High to offer a one-time scholarship award in the amount of $500 to be given to the winner of an essay contest written about former President Abraham Lincoln. All seniors along with the 12 Junior Advanced Placement students are eligible.

A selection committee made up of Government teachers at the high school will determine the top 10 finalists and present them to the GOP who in turn will decide the final winner. The winner will be announced at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner February 23rd at the Main Place and the essay will be read to everyone in attendance.

“The GOP is definitely about politics,” said Deputy Mayor John Buckley, “But we are also about giving back to the community, and we see this as a great opportunity to do that.”
