Governor Agrees With Upstate GOP Lawmakers, To Release $10 Mil To Fund Early Voting

On Thursday, State Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Assemblyman Chris Friend put out a joint statement asking Governor Andrew Cuomo to release agreed-upon state funding to help counties cover the costs of early voting in 2019. That same day, Thursday, August 29, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the state was going to release $10 million dollars to help pay for early voting. “New York State Division of the Budget Announces Approval of $10 million to Support Early Voting” was the headline from the state’s press release on Thursday afternoon, in the 4:00 hour.
