NORTH HORNELL-Harriet A. Smith, 84, of Seneca Road, passed away Tuesday evening (Feb. 3, 2015) at Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell on Dec. 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hoke and Marguerite Reymann. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two brothers, William and Hoke Smith.
A life-long resident of Hornell, Harriet was a graduate of Hornell High School and also attended business school in Hornell.
For many years Harriet was employed by the NYSDOT in Hornell, retiring as a Payroll Supervisor in 1985.
She loved animals and also enjoyed bird watching, photography and ceramics. When she was younger she served as the organist for the former Westminister Presbyterian Church in Hornell.
Her loving family includes her two sisters-in-law, Peggy Smith and Joann Smith both of Hornell; her seven nieces and nephews, Shawna (J.J.) Hogan of Valley Cottage, N.Y., Hoke (Christine) Smith, Todd (Michele) Smith, Brendan Smith (Laura Vetter) and Megan (Ed) Clair all of Hornell, Kara (Kevin) VanAllen of Avon and Brigid (Andy) Norton of Farmington; also her 24 great-nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held following calling hours at 6 p.m. Saturday, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery., Hornell.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Area Family YMCA, 18 Center St, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
