Hogan Warns Of Ambulance Problems With St James Plans

February 17 2015

HORNELL, NY – Mayor Shawn Hogan told the Hornell Common Council on Monday that there are going to be three times more ambulance trips, once the hospital downsizes later this spring.  “Based on an admission rate of three a day, and it’s more than that, that’s an average on the downside,” Hogan said to the council.

“Based on that just alone, 365 times three, if you’ve got to transfer someone (to Dansville, Wellsville or other hospitals) more than we do now, that’s another 1,095 ambulance runs, on an ambulance system that’s already overtaxed.  So who is going to pay for that?”
