Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan Criticizes Mayor deBlasio’s Pre-K Plan

Mayor Shawn Hogan Issues Statement About NYC Mayor deBlasio’s Pre-K Plan
February 13, 2014

HORNELL, NY – From the office of Mayor Shawn Hogan:

“Yesterday, I was shocked to hear Mayor de Blasio argue that the needs of New York City’s children are more important than the needs of mine. Here in the City of Hornell, our kids need a full-day Pre-K program just as much as New York City. A universal full-day Pre-K program would be transformative for many of our families, especially those who live in high-need communities. This year, Governor Cuomo has proposed for the State to fully fund Pre-K for all school districts in the State that want to participate. It is a fair and common sense plan that recognizes the needs of New York’s children are equal. Let’s pass a plan that treats all of our kids the right way.”

Background: NYC Mayor Bill deBlasio wants to raise income taxes on New York City residents for the deBlasio Pre-K plan, Governor Cuomo is opposed to any income tax increase.
