Cynthia Hornbeck of Maple St. remains in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mrs. Hornbeck, wife of well known optician Mike Hornbeck and the owner-operator of Cynthia’s Cookies was critically injured Friday while riding a bicycle on Erie Ave in Hornell.
She was returning from Mass at St. Ann’s Church shortly before 1PM when a parked car door opened, causing Mrs. Hornbeck to fly backwards from the bike landing on her head. She suffered severe head injuries.
She was helicoptered to Strong and has been in guarded condition since her admission. She underwent emergency brain surgery Friday evening.
Her husband and other members of the family have been at her side at the hospital and the family has asked for prayers for the critically injured woman.
