HORNELL, NY – Mayor John Buckley made his 2nd appointment since taking office in appointing 6th ward Alderman Jessica Cleveland to take over the reins of the Quality of Life Committee. The quality of life committee encompasses the HAT commission, Codes Department, Neighborhood Revitalization, and Police and Fire units.
Buckley has been head of that department for the last 5 years, and his main focus has been the anti-drug initiative throughout the years. According to Cleveland, with her extensive background in social work, her priorities will not sway much from Buckley’s, but will also pursue other aspects of the job just as aggressively.
Cleveland has been the 6th ward alderman for over 2 years now, and has already served on that committee for a number of months so she is more than prepared for this new endeavor according to the Mayor.
The Quality of Life committee is currently made up of Cleveland, Melisa Ponticello, Steve Shinebarger, and one or two others to be named in the near future.
