Joseph M. King, formerly of Hornell

HORNELL-Joseph M. King, 81, formerly of McDougall Avenue, passed away Friday morning (Dec. 21, 2018) at the Hill Haven Nursing Facility in Webster, N.Y., after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Hornell on Sept. 17, 1937, he was a son of the late Joseph Michael and Genevieve Katherine (Bradstreet) King. In 1973 he was married at St. Louis Church in Pittsford to Maureen O’Connor King, who predeceased him on June 30, 1989, after 16 years of marriage. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marjorie King; his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Domenic Argentieri and his brother-in-law, Joseph Cameron.

A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Joe moved to Fairport in 2005.He was a graduate of Hornell High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Before he retired he was employed by the North Main Lumber Company in Hornell for 16 years.

While residing in Hornell Joe was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and was a member of the Hornell Council No. 243, Knights of Columbus.

He especially enjoyed spending time playing golf, bowling and boating.

His loving family includes his two children, Theresa K. Antenucci-Frusco (Bucky) of Fairport and Joseph King of Hornell; his four grandchildren, Nathan Joseph, Addison Maureen, Joseph Michael IV and Ava Maureen; his sister, Mary Cameron of Pittsford, N.Y.; as well as his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2018) at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 27, 2018). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

The United States flag and the Army flag will proudly fly at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in recognition of Joe’s military service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, N.Y. 14620. Envelope for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
