Kimberly J. Gilbert, of Canaseraga

CANASERAGA-Kimberly J. Gilbert, 50, passed away early Tuesday morning (Feb. 2, 2016) at her home at 9891 Gas Springs Road, after a one year battle with cancer.

Born in North Hornell on June 19, 1965, she was a daughter of Roger and Sandy (Carnes) Kiley and was a lifelong resident of Canaseraga.

A graduate of Canaseraga Central School, Kim served on the school board for eight years.

She was proud of being employed at one time as a teller for Steuben Trust Company at their Hornell, Arkport and Canaseraga branches. However, Kim was most proud of being a devoted wife and mother to her family. She especially enjoyed assisting in the daily operations of the family farm, “Lost Valley Farms,” as a bookkeeper as well as milking cows.

Kim was a huge Yankees fan and loved trips to Yankee stadium. Throughout her life she had several hobbies, including scrap booking, but her main hobby in life was her family; who she loved to spend time with.

Her loving family includes her husband of 30 years, John T. Gilbert, who she married in Canaseraga on Oct. 11, 1985; her parents, Roger and Sandy Kiley of Canaseraga; her two daughters, Brittany (Colt) Ellerstein and Brianne Gilbert all of Canaseraga; her son, Landon Gilbert also of Canaseraga; her sister, Lynne Kiley of Hornell; her brother, Michael (Heidi) Kiley also of Hornell; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Donna Gilbert of Canaseraga; also her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Connor A. Gilbert on Aug. 18, 2013.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Kimberly J. Gilbert.

Calling hours are 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell.
