Leon E. Woodworth, Sr., of Hartsville

HARTSVILLE: Leon E. Woodworth, Sr., 71 of Bearlick Hollow Rd. passed away peacefully Friday morning, February 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by the comfort and love of his family, after a brief illness.

Leon was born June 25, 1947 in the town of Hartsville, to the late Otto and Hattie (Hale) Woodworth. On November 12, 1965 in Canisteo, he married the former Greta M. Chace who predeceased him in October of 2016. He was also predeceased by a sister Ann Moore and a brother Thomas Woodworth.

Leon was a life-long resident of the Hartsville area and had worked at the former MK Company in Hornell where he was a mechanic in the refurbishing of railway cars. He was a member of the Hornell Moose Club, and was a very avid hunter and outdoorsman. Leon was a quiet man who simply cherished his time spent with family and friends at the family camp in Hartsville.

Leon is survived by two sons, Leon E. (Cinithia) Woodworth, Jr. and Otto Woodworth both of Hartsville, a daughter, Barbara (Kimberly) Woodworth of Bath, three grandchildren, Ashlee, Leon A. and Sara Woodworth, two great granddaughters, Emma Woodworth and Rielynn Eveland. Leon is also survived by 10 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.

At Leon’s request there will be no calling hours or service. A time for family and friends to gather in remembrance of Leon will be announced at a future date.
