TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY – Leslie Danks Burke reports that she filed her petitions to secure ballot positions as the Democratic, Working Families Party, and Women’s Equality Party candidate for State Senate in the 58th district, which includes Steuben, Chemung, Schuyler, Yates and part of Tompkins Counties. “It’s been six hardworking months since we barnstormed through the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes over two cold and snowy days to announce my candidacy for State Senate,” Danks Burke said. “Back in January, we drove hundreds of miles over 48 hours to personally bring this campaign to folks in Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca, Penn Yan, and Watkins Glen. In the past month our hundreds of volunteers have again reached every corner of this district for thousands of one-on-one conversations about how we can change things for the better around here by getting to work together.”

Danks Burke says that jobs, farms and schools is what she talk about, and she says that people everywhere are responding. “Voters know that Albany corruption cheats our district, sending our high tax dollars out of our region. We need a new leader who will stand up to downstate politicians and Albany special interests to finally get the jobs and education investment our region deserves.”
