Margaret A. “Marge” DeSanto, of Hornell

HORNELL-Margaret A. “Marge” DeSanto, 86, formerly of East Elm Street, passed away Saturday morning (Aug. 31, 2019) at Elderwood at Hornell.

Born in Hornell on Jan. 20, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Changose) DeSanto. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by seven sisters, Rose DiVincenzo, Mary Leto, Louise Fratercangelo, Lucy Chapman, Anna Datini, Catherine Smart and Dorothy DeSanto; also two brothers, Joseph DeSanto and Nicholas DeSanto, Jr.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Margie was employed by the former Marion Rhor in Hornell and after retiring she was employed with ABC Daycare and also did private daycare at her home.

Marge was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a devout communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. She was also an active member of the Beato Angelo Society and was devoted to praying the rosary.

Her loving family includes her two brothers, Francis “Sonny” (Ellen) DeSanto of Hornell and Richard (Josephine) DeSanto of Rochester; two sisters, Theresa Napolione of Olean and Helen (Joe) Pardi of California; one sister-in-law, Donna DeSanto of Hornell; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Margaret A. “Marge” DeSanto.

There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to join her family at St. Ann’s Church, 31 Erie Ave., Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 7, 2019). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church.
