Marjorie M. Damrath, of Hornell

  HORNELL-Marjorie M. Damrath, 87, passed away Sunday afternoon (May 28, 2017) at her home on Grand Street.

  Born in Troupsburg on April 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Etta (Hurlburt) George. On May 23, 1959, she was married at Fort Monroe, Virginia to Gerald J. “Jerry” Damrath, who predeceased her on March 20, 2005 after 46 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Leo E. Damrath on Sept. 11, 2014; her three brothers, James, Victor and Frank George and her two sisters, Mary DiCosimo and Loretta Alexander.

  A resident of Hornell for most of her life, Marge attended school in Troupsburg and Hornell.

  She was a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hornell and later St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish.

  Marge especially enjoyed walking and could often be seen throughout town doing errands, shopping and going to church and appointments.

  Her loving family includes her brother, John (Janet) George of Hornell; her nieces and nephews as well as her very dear friends, Timothy (Doreen) Rohan of Rochester, Betty (Bill) Pauley and Karistella (Ralph) Sage and their children all of Hornell.

 The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Marjorie M. Damrath.

  To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 in honor of her late husband, Jerry.
