Mary Angela Nasca, of Hornell

HORNELL-Mary Angela Nasca, 85, of Pardee St., passed away early Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 4, 2017) at Hornell Gardens, after a brief illness.

Born in Hornell on Sept. 10, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Mary Louise (Caruso) DiNardo. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Carmen DiNardo; her infant brother, Angelo DiNardo and infant sisters, Angela and Ann Patricia DiNardo.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Angela was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1949 and was a member of the National Honor Society.

After graduating from high school she began her 60 plus year career with three generations of the Davidson family at Davidson’s Furniture in Hornell where she was employed as an office manager, bookkeeper and in sales.

Angela was a devout member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Hornell and was a charter member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel where she spent many hours each week.

She was a member of the Hornell City Democratic Womens Club and served as committee person for the fifth district. Throughout the years she has been an avid sports lover as well as a huge fan and supporter of Notre Dame.

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Angela dedicated her life to her family, especially to her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes her husband of 58 years, Samuel J. Nasca, who she married at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell on Nov. 7, 1958; her four children, Katherine (Thomas) Rohan of Mesquite, Tex., Marlene (Paul) Turino of Ridgewood, N.J., Samuel J. (Rebecca) Nasca II of Charlotte, N.C. and Ronald Nasca (Brandy Sleggs) of Hornell; a special niece, Mary Louise Coleman (Tom Krohn) of Friendship, who was like a daughter to her; her eight beloved grandchildren, Eric, Matthew and Rachael Rohan, Samantha and Eric Turino, Carmen, Dominic and Mia Nasca; her two sisters, Lucy (Paul) Stewart of Canisteo and Mary Carmella “Liz” Gemmell of Flagler Beach, Fla.; also her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell is honored to serve the family of Mary Angela Nasca.

Calling hours are 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
