A Joint Statement From Mayor Buckley And Hornell Area Humane Society:
The City of Hornell and the Hornell Area Humane Society would like to issue a joint statement regarding recent contract negotiations. We would like the community to know that negotiations and dialogue have resumed with a neutral third party, and the discussions has been positive, with progression forward.
We have each previously issued public statements regarding our position which has garnered much response from the community which we greatly appreciate. However, these actions do not appear to be the best path towards resolution and as such, we have each removed our social media posts. We each recognize the passion and commitment of both parties for whom they serve. This passion and commitment enables us to do the job you expect us to, however it’s important in negotiations to be mindful of other points of view.
We would like the community to know that the Hornell Area Humane Society will continue to provide services to the City of Hornell, at the same rate as the previous contract, for the months of April-June while these negotiations continue. The goal is for a new contract to be completed prior to the end of June. We will continue our commitment to the people and animals we serve in the City of Hornell, and are optimistic of a resolution that will continue to provide the best services you expect for our community.
