Mayor Hogan Wins Award From International Economic Development Council

HORNELL, NY – Mayor Shawn Hogan has won the 2017 International Economical Council Leadership award for Public Service. Hogan, who is now in his 32nd and final year as mayor of Hornell, was given the award, for two major accomplishments: Securing the 2.5 billion dollar contract between Alstom and Amtrak, and being the leader in preventing St. James Hospital from being closed down. The result of the Alstom contract with Amtrak will result in 700 new jobs at Alstom and 350 more jobs across the region, and the result of the hospital staying open, was that hundreds of St. James Hospital jobs were saved and the state health department gave $55 million dollars to St. James.

Hogan was also given the award for helping get 36 major projects going in Hornell, that brought in more than $300 million dollars in private investments and $38 million dollars in governmental assistance for economic development efforts.
