Melissa R. Potter, of Wayland

WAYLAND: Melissa R. Potter, 46, of Michigan Road, passed away unexpectedly Thursday (July 20, 2017) at Noyes Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home.

Melissa was born March 16, 1971 in Rochester to Michael and Jerrilynn (Chace) McNulty. On June 19, 1999 in Hornell she married Chandler “Chad” Potter who survives and resides in Wayland. She was predeceased by her father Michael McNulty in November of 2009.

Melissa was employed as a cafeteria kitchen assistant at the Dansville Central School District. She loved her job and her coworkers. Melissa was a 1989 graduate of Jasper/Troupsburg Central School and while growing up attended the West Jasper Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed movies, word search games, and had a great affection towards animals. She truly adored her dog “Buddy”. Melissa was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

In addition to her husband Chad, Melissa is survived by a son, Chandler at home in Wayland, her mother, Jerrilynn McNulty of Greenwood, sister, Michelle (Demetrio) Santos Martinez of Dansville, niece Cassandra and nephew Cristian Santos Martinez also of Dansville, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal service will follow calling hours at 8 pm.
