Mike Nisbet Voted In To Be Chair of the Steuben Co. IDA

BATH, NY – The Steuben County IDA has announced that Michael L. Nisbet has been elected by the board to serve as the agencies’ next Chair. Nisbet has served on the Steuben County IDA Board of Directors since March, 2006. He serves as the Managing Director and CFO at TTA/Transitair where has worked for over 28 years. “I am thrilled to able to serve as the new board chair for the Steuben County IDA,” stated Nisbet. “When asked to step in and take over, I gladly accepted. Our goal is to create and stimulate an economic climate that competitively positions Steuben County to attract talented people, promote new business development, and to assist and respond to opportunities that will ensure long-term stability for our county.” Nisbet takes over for Philip J. Roche, immediate past-chairman, who rolled off the board to assume an elected position as Steuben County and Family Court Judge.

The IDA reports that in addition, Tony Russo will become the treasurer of the Steuben County IDA. Russo has been on the board of the Steuben County IDA since January, 2017. Russo has been part of the family-owned and operated business, Southern Tier Provisions, for over 25 years. The company specializes in Italian food distribution to the Northeast and is located in Bath, NY. Joseph H. Hauryski will continue to serve as the Vice Chairman and Katherine P. Douglas, Ed. D., will remain Secretary.

IDA officials also say that the Steuben County legislature recently appointed, Mark Alger as a new board member to fill the unexpired term of Phil Roche. In addition, the legislature appointed Michael Doyle, Owner and President of the Pleasant Valley Wine Company/Great Western and Christine Sharkey, Director of Community Affairs for Corning Enterprises, to each server another three-year term.

“Our board is the cornerstone of our operation, and its make-up includes residents, municipal government, businesses and educational institutions allowing for a unified collaboration toward enhancing the county’s economic prosperity,” stated James C. Johnson, Executive Director, Steuben County IDA.
