Mitch Alger Leaves Allegany Co. Job For Steuben Co. Job

November 13, 2015

BELMONT, NY – This is a copy of a memo sent out by Allegany County Administrator Mitch Alger:

It is bittersweet to announce my acceptance of the Deputy County Manager position in Steuben County. Therefore, I will also be moving on from my position as Allegany County Administrator. The opportunity in Steuben County arose over the last several weeks and resulted in an offer my wife, Megan, and I felt we had to pursue.
As a native of Bath, NY, this opportunity will give me the chance to work for and serve the community I grew up in. It has been pleasure to serve the people of Allegany County over the past 6 years in various capacities for the County. However, there is something different and special about serving the public in the community I call “home”.
I will continue to work in my capacity as County Administrator until the end of the 2015 calendar year. This period of time is intended to ensure a smooth transition for the Allegany County Board of Legislators after my departure.
I am very appreciative of my time with Allegany County and the experience it has brought me. I have learned more in my roles in Allegany County than I have in any other position I have held. Furthermore, I look forward to working with Steuben County Manager, Jack Wheeler, as well as the Steuben County Legislature in the New Year.
