Monthly Hornell Common Council News

January 15th, 2018

HORNELL, NY – In his first Common Council meeting as Mayor, John Buckley got right to work appointing and re-appointment positions in City Hall. The list of appointments is rather lengthy, so it can be viewed below as an attachment.

Probably the most notable appointment was selecting Jessica Cleveland as Deputy Mayor. Cleveland has been the 6th ward alderwoman for over 2 years now, and was just recently appointed head of the Quality of Life Committee.

“Jessica has really stepped up over the last few years and showed me she is willing to take on a lot of responsibility. She’s been consistently picking my brain and is eager to learn and in my opinion she is a great choice,” said Buckley.

Also, with the recent heavy snowfall, Buckley had much praise for Mitch Cornish and his DPW crew. “For the amount of snow and ice we received in such a short amount of time, our DPW crew really stepped up and did an outstanding job clearing our roads before the cold air blew in and froze everything solid.”
