Norva L. Marsh, of Jasper

JASPER: Norva L. Marsh, 88, of Marsh Hill Rd. passed into the arms of her Savior Tuesday (Nov. 14, 2017) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided these past 3 years.

Norva was born July 20, 1929 in Jasper to the late Archie and Blanche (Heckman) Foster. On Nov. 2, 1947 in South Canisteo, she married Richard W. Marsh who predeceased her in September of 2016. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Beatrice Welty, Helen Warriner, Eleanor Fichter and June Alleger.

Norva was a life-long resident of the Jasper area where she and her husband ran the family farm and raised their three children. She was a graduate of Jasper Central School class of 1947, was a former member of the Jasper Agriculture Advisory Committee, former member of the Jasper Grange, and a member of the Adrian Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School in the primary classroom.

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna (Melvin) Hibbard of Canisteo, two sons, Richard D. (Susan) Marsh of Horseheads and Philip (Christine) Marsh of Jasper, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Norva is also survived by two brothers, Grant Foster of Jasper and Gerald (Saralee) Foster of Painted Post, 3 sisters, Eva Irvine of Jasper, Ruth (Morris) Schenck of West Jasper and Joyce (Arlee) Van Skiver of Canisteo, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday (Nov. 24) at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where a funeral service will take place Saturday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Vaughn Van Skiver officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
