Residents File Official Petition Against Excessive Noise at Byrne Dairy Facility

August 15, 2016

Hornell, NY – Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan informed the board that an official petition has been received that was filed by residents surrounding the Byrne Dairy facility located near the intersection of Loder Street and Erie Avenue. Hogan said that although the building is not used as a commercial store anymore, it is now a storage/distribution hub for the company with large trucks coming and going, refrigerated trailers running 24/7, and lots of banging and clacking from constant loading and unloading.

Hogan explained the procedure once a petition is received by the city. “We now take the petition and give it to our city attorney, who then will review it for the proper content, and then submit a formal letter to the administration at Byrne Dairy asking for their voluntary cooperation in the matter. “ “This is not the first time we have had complaints on this issue, we have had verbal complaints in the past and I think there are some things they can do to mitigate the noise,” said Hogan.
