Revere L. “Hutch” Hutchinson, of Hornell

HORNELL-Revere L. “Hutch” Hutchinson, 85, of State Route 21, passed away Saturday afternoon (April 1, 2017) at Elderwood at Hornell where he has resided for nearly the past five years.

Born in Friendship on March 12, 1932, he was a son of the late Glenn and Delilah (Bean) Hutchinson. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Raymond Glenn Hutchinson of Scio; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tommie and Grace Bostick of Andover; his sister-in-law, Ruth Sheridan of Fulton and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barney and Betty Bostick of Hornell.

A graduate of Scio Central School, Hutch proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1951 to his honorable discharge in 1955 and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He has resided in Hornell since 1955 and was employed as a delivery man for the former Modern Cleaners and Loohn’s Cleaners in Hornell and was also formerly employed as a salesman for the Prudential Insurance Company. For 26 years he was employed at the former Foster-Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville, retiring as a welder. After retiring he was employed for two years as a security officer for the Burns Security Co. at Foster-Wheeler.

Hutch loved horses and throughout the years he owned several trotters and race horses. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2530 in Wellsville and a former member of the Hornell Moose Lodge No. 210.

He will be remembered as an exceptional man who everyone loved that ever had the pleasure of meeting him.

His loving family includes his wife of 63 years, the former Alice E. Bostick, who he married at a beautiful candlelight ceremony at the Calvary Baptist Church in Wellsville; his daughter, Vickie Clarke of Hornell; his two brothers, William “Bill” (Helen) Hutchinson and Walter James “Jim” (Bev) Hutchinson all of Scio; his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Titlow of Texas as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Revere L. “Hutch” Hutchinson.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell where a funeral service, with military honors will be held following calling hours at 8 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Karl Kemp officiating. From 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday everyone is invited to attend a luncheon at the Hornell V.F.W. Post, 245 Canisteo St. in Hornell. Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.

The United States flag and the Navy flag will proudly fly at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in recognition of Hutch’s military service with the U.S. Navy.
