“Our mission is to help people become part of their community,” said Bernie Burns of ARC of Steuben.   ” We have a program that teaches people skills, and take them out into the community, shopping and learning different things about the City of Hornell, which is where most of them live.”

Mayor Shawn Hogan spoke of the welcoming nature of Hornellians in dealing with ARC of Steuben residents.  “We try to remove that stigma here in the community, and make the homes a part of our community and make the residents a part of the community.”

“I too echo what has been said here,” said Jim Griffin of the Hornell IDA.  “It flies under the radar so much and it’s such an asset to the community,” said Griffin, thanking them for a “first class operation.”

“Living next to one of your houses for the last 14 years, I have an up close and deep respect and appreciation for everything that you do,” said Deputy Mayor John Buckley.   “So keep up the good work.”
