From The Hornell YMCA:
The Hornell Area Family YMCA’s Board of Directors have accepted the resignation of their current CEO, Robert Gilchrist. Gilchrist has served in this capacity since 2015. “Rob brought a high level of energy and enthusiasm to the Hornell YMCA. The charitable cause of our Y was emphasized over the past 3 years and this message has provided positive results,” said Steve Peck, Board Chair.
Gilchrist, who will leave his post in mid-January, will be joining the YMCA of Greater Rochester as the Executive Director of the Westside branch. An interim CEO will be named in the near future while the YMCA Board searches for a successor. “Rob excelled in his role and his success ultimately led to him being recruited by another YMCA. We are excited for what the future holds for him and his family,” added Peck.
“I’m am so grateful for having had the opportunity to build on the Y’s tradition of service to the Hornell community.” he said. Reflecting on his term as the Hornell Y’s CEO, Gilchrist said, “I believe that the Y’s senior management team is stronger than ever; we are financially healthy and our membership continues to grow. I’m confident that this Y will continue to meet the challenges of operating an independent YMCA.” he said. Gilchrist emphasized the important work of the non-profit. “We are so proud that our Y is continually working to offer programs that strengthen spirit, mind and body for all and help make the community we serve stronger.”
