Robert E. “Bob” Shinebarger, of Canisteo

CANISTEO-Robert E. “Bob” Shinebarger, 65, passed away Thursday (Nov. 15) at the Hospeace House in Naples, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born August 17, 1953 in North Hornell to the late Richard and Ella (Butler) Shinebarger. On January 8, 1977, in Hornell he married the former Sandra Kay Patrick who predeceased him in June of 2014. He was also predeceased by a sister Becky (Shinebarger) Eveland.

Bob was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and also enjoyed grilling in the summer.

Bob is survived by a son, Dale (Diane) Shinebarger of Howard, three grandchildren, Makaila, Brianna and Michael Shinebarger, two sisters, Betsy (Timothy) Hawkins of Elba and Betty (Thomas) Henry of Canisteo, one brother, Raymond (Mary) Shinebarger of Fremont, his sister-in-law Katherine Patrick of Canisteo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Jason and Joe Shinebarger, Shannon, Jeffrey and Elizabeth Eveland, Johanna and Stephen Hawkins, and Matthew and Michelle Henry.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 Wednesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at 4:00 pm. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.
